Veterinarians unfortunately become rather skilled at trating these types of infestations when they live in areas where such lesions occur. A few cases caused by calliphorid flies (blow flies) have been described, and they are presented below. The cases presented here are due to the calliphorid flies, that are place by some in the genus Phaenicia which others consider more correctly called Lucilia. </span></p> <p align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-size: medium;"> The cases of primary myiasis that occur in cats are due to several different flies, these include the Old World Primary Screwworm, </span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Chrysomyia</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>bessiniani</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;">; the New World Primary Screwworm </span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Cochliomyia</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>hominivorax</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;">, the African Tumbu fly, </span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Cordylobia</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>antrhopophaga</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;">, a sarcophagid fly, </span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Wohlfahrtia</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>vigil</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"> that causes primary myiasis in foxes and which sometimes gets into cats, the large rodent bots of the genus </span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Cuterebra</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"> which are only found in the New World, and another New World only fly or Human Botfly, </span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Dermatobia</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>hominis</i></span><span style="font-size: medium;">.</span></p>
