<p align="JUSTIFY"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Paragonimus ohirai</i></span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> is found in Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Taiwan, and China; where it tends to be distributed around the mouths of rivers. The life cycle is typical of the other species of </span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Paragonimus</i></span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;">. The final hosts are rats and other mammals, including the cat; infections in humans are rare. The snail hosts tend to be localized in the regions in which they are found as are the brackish-water crab hosts. These flukes differ from the other Asian species of </span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Paragonimus</i></span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> in that the spines on the body occur in clusters rather than being single (Miyazaki, 1991).</span></span></p> |
