J Parasitol 19:164.) who showed that the cercariae have very short tails and become entrapped together in the water in balls of mucus. The metacercariae develop in the fins of fresh-water catfish, </span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Ameiurus</i></span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> spp., and matures to the adult stage in carnivores, including the cat, in 5 days after ingestion of the fish.
