The small trematode, 2 mm long, is found within the bile ducts. The parasite appears very similar to species of </span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Metorchis</i></span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> and </span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><i>Parametorchis</i></span></span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> with the major difference being that the posterior end of the body appears abbreviated, "truncated," producing the appearance of a posterior sucking disk; hence the name meaning false amphistome. The life cycle was examined, and it was shown that it required a piscine intermediate host (Ciurea I. 1917.
